This is one of my favorite features in Mozilla browsers. Unfortunately there are some days when I'm inputting something in a form, and the carat leaves the form-input box, jumping out apparently to start "finding as I type." Has anyone else had this experience?
Sometimes it goes away when I've turned off the feature, continue browsing, then later turned it back on.
I'm running Firefox 1.0 on Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 (JPN), for what it's worth.

Re: Find-as-you-type
Thu, February 10, 2005 - 2:15 AMYeah. in fact, it was this behavior (along with assorted other weirdness) that encouraged me to back up and reinstall Windows from scratch. I thought that the 2 years of various s/w uninstalls, Registry cudgeling, and whatever patchwork that Windows Updates gradually accretes, that it was the OS itself that was causing this behavior (along with the other weirdnesses). After the painful process of getting all the stuff installed properly, I downloaded the most recent release versions of Firefox and Thunderbird, and installed them. It was pretty surprising to see the same bug pop up again.
After that, I went so far as to ditch the \Documents and Settings\~user\Application Data\ folder for Firefox, losing all the extension-y goodness and such.
It's been pretty well behaved this week.

Re: Find-as-you-type
Thu, February 3, 2005 - 8:49 PMIt's happened to me, but just a few times in the past week or so. I can usually solve the problem by reloading the page.
